It is now week eight going into week
nine! Coming off Halloween football there was only one great game. That game
belongs to the Detroit, Lions. The Lions played the Denver, Broncos in Denver
at Sports Authority Field, the day before Halloween. Most eyes were expected to
be on the rookie, Tim Tebow, but the Lions forced people to switch their gaze.
The game started, the coin was flipped, the Broncos won the toss and
started with the ball.
Denver came
off their drive with a decent field goal to start the game. Tim Tebow started a
couple of rants in the crowd. Their superiority didn’t last very long. The
Lions came out hot, and with a forty-one yard touchdown pass to Titus Young
from Mathew Stafford. If anything the crowd went silent as it was now 7 to 3.
The rest of the quarter is pretty dry with four, four and outs. The Lions find
their pace again and score a whopping fifty yard field goal from Jason Hanson!
Then, both teams go silent with constant back and forth fourth down punts. Once
again the Lion rise up; they score a one yard touchdown pass to Tony Scheffler.
The Broncos go four and out: the lions score again the same way. By the end of
the first half the Lions were up 24 to 3.
The Lions
get the ball at the start of the second half, but come up empty. The infamous
Tim Tebow steps on the field only to be sacked and fumble the ball. The Lions
defense to picks it up and scores! Denver’s next two drives sadly go four and
out once more. The Lions then score a 51 yard touchdown pass to, the best wide receiver
in the NFL, Chris Johnson! The third quarter ends with Detroit up 38 to 3. Tim
Tebow breaks the huddle as they line up inside the red zone. The ball is
snapped, Tebow throws, and it is intercepted at the goal line and brought back
for a 100 yard touchdown interception! If I were a Broncos fan, I would find a
new team to cheer for…. Fortunately Denver’s next drive results in a touchdown
making it 45 to 10, Detroit over Denver. The game ends bleakly for Denver.
The Lions
this season are 6 and 2, almost incomparably to an almost winless season last
year. They’ve improved tremendously. No one would have ever guessed, which
makes a fantasy frenzy. Most Detroit receivers are probably not available, but
tight ends are a great pick up. For example, Brandon Pettigrew averages around
ten fantasy points per game! Their kicker is plentiful in points, and Mathew
Stafford is a nice backup quarterback to have. The Lions are one of the most
solid teams in the league up to this date.
