In week six the Oakland, Raiders stick out to me for two reasons: one, they are a strong, progressive team; and two, their starting quarterback is changing in week seven. The Oakland Raiders played the Cleveland, Browns at their home field, the Coliseum. The Browns got the ball first but went a quick four and out. Oakland takes the next drive down field, and scores a four yard touchdown run with Darren McFadden. He’s a solid running back that isn’t open to pick-up in any serious league. Both teams go four and out on their next drives, and the Browns get the ball. They score with a short one yard pass.
The Browns kick it off and the next thing you know Ford, the raiders kick returner, runs it back for a 101 yard touchdown! Oakland is on top 14 to 7 at the end of the first half. The Raiders get the ball with around six minutes left in the third quarter and kick a 48 yard field goal with Janikowski, a veteran kicker in the league. The Browns fumble on the first play of their drive, and it is recovered by the Raiders defense. The Raiders take control, and fake a punt on fourth and twenty! They score a thirty-five yard touchdown pass to Boss in the end zone! The Raiders have the lead 24 to 7. The Browns reply two drives later with a decent forty-seven yard field goal. The Raiders come up short on their drive and give it back to the Browns. The Browns score with less than two minutes left making it 24 to 17.
The Browns try on onside kick to try and get the ball back to score, but the Raiders special teams recovers, and the game ends with a quarterback kneel to run out the time. The game wasn’t a blow out, and wasn’t spectacular. The reason I picked to talk about this team is because of Darren McFadden and their new quarterback Carson Palmer. Darren McFadden is a solid running back. Carson Palmer is starting week seven. Carson Palmer’s performance is still up in the air. If you like gambling and Carson Palmer is available, then you could pick him up, but it is easier to doubt he’ll make an impact on a fantasy team any time soon.
